Heinrich Wilhelm Schott

Heinrich Wilhelm Schott ( baptized January 7, 1794 in Brno, † March 5, 1865 in Vienna ) was an Austrian botanist and gardener. Its official botanical author abbreviation is " Schott ".

Schott took 1817-1821 participated in the Austrian expedition to Brazil in 1828 and was appointed head gardener in Vienna. From 1845, until his death served as director of Schott courtyard gardens and the imperial menagerie. In 1852 he also led the transformation of the Schönbrunn Palace in a partial English system. Schott was known in particular by exploring the alpine flora, where he founded the Alpine Garden at the Belvedere. In addition, he enriched the Viennese court gardens through its collections in Brazil.
