Heinz Alt

Heinz Alt ( * 1922, † January 6, 1945 in Dachau ) was a German composer and a victim of the Nazi regime.

Life

About Heinz Alt, who appeared along with Viktor Ullmann, Gideon Klein, Pavel Haas, Hans Krasa and others in the Theresienstadt concentration camp as a composer, very little is known. He came in June 1943 from Ostrava to Theresienstadt. Through its local participation in cultural life is a performance of his 6 miniatures for piano known ( in the second concert "Studio for New Music " under the direction of Viktor Ullmann ) and a piano accompaniment for The Bohemian song of Smetana, he for an event would be his 60th Date of Death (12 May 1884) wrote. Pianist was then Karel Reiner, Singer was the bassist Karel Berman. In September 1944, Heinz Alt was deported to Auschwitz.
