Heinz Strehl

Heinz Strehl ( born July 20, 1938 in Kalchreuth; † August 11, 1986 ) was a German football player.

As a striker, he played in the 1960s for the 1st FC Nuremberg and has been with the club in 1961 and 1968, German football champions. In the Bundesliga, he was active in 174 games and scored 76 goals, which he is top scorer in the Bundesliga Franken today.

Strehl wore 1962-1965 four times the jersey of the German national football team and participated with the squad at the World Cup in Chile in 1962, where he was, however, not used.

Under the leadership of Max Morlock he developed into one of the best center-forward who ever played for the 1st FC Nuremberg. He was regarded as technically savvy, run joyfully and with a eye for goal.

Sports career

Oberliga Süd

The in Kalchreuth, near Nuremberg, born forward played from 1958 when he had taken the plunge into the Oberliga TSV Gleisshammer, with the club in the Oberliga Süd. After the debut year of 1958/59 he was constantly in the root formation and came to the end of the premier league era 1962/63 to 117 games and 81 goals for the then German record champions. Already in its second season 1959/60 he was top scorer in the South with 30 goals in 28 games. After winning the Südtitels the 1st FC Nuremberg got even the German championship in 1961 in the Noris. In the south of Heinz Strehl was there successfully with 22 goals, Rudolf Meier fountains and stone had each achieved 23 results. In the final on 24 June 1961 in Hannover against Borussia Dortmund, which was regarded as a favorite, he scored in the 67th minute with the game 3-0 the final score.

1962 was also successful thanks Strehl defended the title in the south and on 29 August the DFB Cup victory - again in Hannover - with a 2:1 aet additionally celebrated against Fortuna Dusseldorf. As in the series 1961/62 but also the games were to be completed in the European Champions Cup, Heinz Strehl and his comrades were constantly employed as a contract player in the league. In the European Cup Nuremberg penetrated into the quarter- finals and Strehl was with 7 hits one of the five scorers.

National league

After the transition to the Bundesliga from the 1963/64, it went to every match against equivalent competitors. In the fifth year Bundesliga 1967/68, then the club with Strehl and applicable as Meistermacher coach Max Merkel managed the sensational winning the league title. Heinz Strehl was doing and who achieved 18 goals at decisive. A particular triumph was doing the 7-3 home win on 16 game against Bayern Munich ( 1-0 Strehl). Herbstmeister was this team with the result of 11 wins, 5 draws and only one defeat in 17 games with 27:7 points.
