Life and work

From 1963, he guarded the gate of Velsener club Telstar 156 Erstligabegegnungen. In 1967 he was Ajax Amsterdam where he committed the number two behind Gert Bals was originally whom he replaced as goalkeeper from 1970.

Until 1976 he was 132 times for Ajacieden in league matches between the posts. His time at Ajax describes the golden era of Ajax and he won with the club three times the Dutch Cup, four national championships, three times in a row the European Champions Cup and the World Cup. In the European Cup finals 1971-1973, which won the team to Johan Cruyff, Johan Neeskens and Piet Keizer against Panathinaikos and FC Internazionale Juventus FC 2-0 and the 1-0, he stayed three times in a row without conceding a goal, what a record is. In the two final matches for the World Cup against CA Independiente of Argentina, he had a 1-1 draw in bonarenser industrial suburb Avellaneda but once fall behind. Ajax won the title with a 2-0 victory in the second leg. After the European Cup win against Panathinaikos Stuy could accrue as a striker in the remaining league match against Go Ahead Eagles Deventer, but remained without a goal.

The goalkeeper, who is also the reputation of a " second Libero " earned by his understanding of the game, since 1971 holds with 1082 minutes without conceding a still existing record in the Dutch first division, the Eredivisie. Heinz Stuy - who had the nickname Kroket because he high balls often let go like a hot croquette, before he brought them under control with a second handle - but came to no use in the national team. Here Jan van Beveren dominated, Jan Jongbloed and Piet Schrijvers, who took over his position in Ajax Gate from 1974. So Heinz Stuy still holds another record: together with Bernd Dürnberger, who celebrated a European Cup hat-trick with Bayern Munich from 1974 to 1976, it should be with eleven titles of the player with the most important club tracks that never ran aground for its national. Stuy finished 1976-1978 with FC Amsterdam with 16 other league games of his career.

After graduating, he pursued a successful career winery in Driehuis, which he sold in 2007. He was also from 1988 to 1998, albeit with interruptions, goalkeeping coach at his hometown club Telstar.
