Heinz Ulzheimer

Heinz Ulzheimer (* December 27 1925 in Höchst am Main ) is a former German track and field athlete and Olympic medal winner.

Sports career

He won at the Olympic Summer Games 1952 in Helsinki two bronze medals - in the 800 -meter run ( 1:49,7 min) and in the 4 x 400 - meter relay ( 3:06,6 min, with Hans spirits, Günther stone and Karl -Friedrich Haas). The medal in the 800 - meter race was the first Olympic medal in the Summer Games for a German athlete after the Second World War.

At the European Championships in 1954, he finished with the 4 x 400 - meter relay team to second place ( 3:08,8 min, together with Hans spirits, Helmut Dreher and Karl -Friedrich Haas).

Ulzheimers club was Eintracht Frankfurt. Heinz Ulzheimer had a competition weight of 74 kg at a height of 1.78 m.

Honors

1953 Rudolf Harbig Memorial Prize awarded him.

Other activities

He married the sprinter Margot Hunchback ( Olympian 1952). Heinz Ulzheimer was motor vehicle master craftsmen in Frankfurt -Bockenheim. After the end of his athletic career he conducted the Sports Museum in Frankfurt am Main.

Ulzheimer was CEO of Schlappekicker action of the Frankfurter Rundschau, which supports, among others in distress athletes.
