Heist -op -den-Berg is a Belgian municipality located in the Flemish region with 40 512 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2012), which comprises the main town and five other districts.

Mechelen is situated 18 kilometers to the west, Antwerp 26 km north-west of Brussels and about 35 kilometers south-west.

The next highway exits are located in the north near Herentals on the A13 / E 313, in the south near Aarschot on the A2 and to the west in Mechelen 19 on the A1 / E

The community has a regional railway station on the line Antwerp - Lier -Heist -op -den-Berg - Aarschoot.
