Heitersberg Pass

K

The Heitersberg is an elongated ridge in the central Swiss Plateau. It lies in the east of the canton of Aargau, extends over a distance of approximately 13 km in a north-south direction and reaches a height of up to 787 m above sea level. M. In the west it is bounded by the Reuss River Valley, to the east by the Limmat Valley and the Reppischtal. He is forested for the most part, on some cleared areas agriculture and pastoralism is operated.

Geography

The northern end of the ridge is located in Baden during Chrüzliberg (514 m above sea level. M. ). This is followed in a southerly direction the Baregg (531 m above sea level. M. ), the Oberhausen (619 m above sea level. M. ), the Rüslerhau (640 m above sea level. M. ), the Sennenberg (702 m above sea level. M. ), the actual Heitersberg ( 787 m above sea level. M. ) and finally the bunny hill ( 762 m above sea level. M. ). The latter drops to 551 meters high Mutschellen pass, the transition to the subsequent Holzbirrliberg. While the western flank of the ridge generally slopes gently, the eastern flank is characterized by steep and deeply incised river valleys. Formative are two prehistoric landslide areas, the devil cellar on Baregg and Egelsee in a marshy valley on the steep flank of the actual Clear Mountain.

On the hills only a few hamlets: Rüsler in the community Neuenhof ( 632 m asl. ) Sennenberg in the community Kill cheeks, Heitersberg in the community Spreitenbach, (658 m asl. ) ( 648 m asl. ) Sennhof in the community Busslingen (664 m above sea level. M. ), Upper Schoenberg in the community Bergdietikon ( 671 m above sea level. M. ) and rabbits mountain in the town of Widen ( 696 m above sea level. M. ). On a terrace in front over the Reuss valley are the villages Staretschwil, Busslingen and Bellikon.

Traffic

The traffic on the Central Plateau, which runs mainly in west-east direction, the Heitersberg Hill chain is a striking obstacle in the way. It is crossed by few roads, but these are all closed to motorized through traffic and rarely provided with hard coating. The most famous road leads from Busslingen via the hamlet Heitersberg to Spreitenbach. There is also a second road between Staretschwil over the Rüsler to Neuenhof. In the past, a detour through bathing in the far north or the far south Mutschellen pass was necessary for the passage of traffic. Since October 1970, the A1 highway passes through the 1.1 km long tunnel between Baregg Daettwil and Neuenhof. The original two tunnels came in June 2003, added a third. In May 1975, the 4.9 km long railway tunnel between Mellingen and Kill cheeks was opened, which forms a part of the Heitersberg line.

Clear Mountain Pass

The Clear mountain pass leads at an altitude of 657 m asl over the Heitersberg. The mountain pass connects the village Spreitenbach in the Limmat Valley with Staretschwil in the Reuss valley. The eastern ramp of Spreitenbach has slope maxima to 17 % on the west ramp of Staretschwil to 10 %. For motorized traffic from both sides of the pass is reached, a direct crossing is however prohibited.
