Geography

Heldenstein located in Southeast Upper Bavaria in the foothills between the rivers Isen and Inn about 13 km to the west of the county town Mühldorf and 20 km east of Villages and 67 km from the state capital of Munich.

History

Heldenstein belonged to Rentamt Landshut and the Neumarkt district court of the Electorate of Bavaria. Using the Upper Office Ampfing practiced the archbishopric of Salzburg until its suspension from the lower jurisdiction over his subjects in this area.

On April 1, 1950, the municipality parts ceded to the newly formed community Waldkraiburg.

Incorporations

On January 1, 1970, until then independent municipality Lauterbach was incorporated. On May 1, 1978, added Weidenbach.
