Helen Clitheroe

Helen Clitheroe ( Clitheroe Helen Teresa, born Pattinson, born January 2, 1974 in Preston ) is a British medium-range, long-range and obstacle runner.

Initially she specialized in the 1500 meters distance and cross-country running. From 1998 to 2005 she qualified eight times in a row for the short-distance competition of the IAAF World Cross Country Championships with a 19th place in 2004 in Brussels as the best placement. In the European Cross Country Championships, she came in 2004 in Heringsdorf on the 27th place, 2007 in Toro on the 22th Place and in 2010 in Albufeira on the 21th Place and won each with the British team silver.

About 1500 meters it was starting for England, 1998 Ninth at the Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur. At the World Athletics Championships in 1999 in Seville she left in the run, at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney and at the 2001 World Championships in Edmonton, she reached the semi-finals. In 2002, she won the bronze medal at the Commonwealth Games in Manchester, but different in the European Athletics Championships in Munich in the group stage. In 2005, she finished fourth. In 2010 she was at the IAAF World Indoor Championships in Doha Seventh and at the Commonwealth Games in New Delhi Eighth about 1500 m, 2011, she won the European Indoor Championships in Paris Gold over 3000 meters and became Twelfth over 5000 meters at the World Championships in Daegu. At the World Indoor Championships 2012 in Istanbul, it was about 3000 m Seventh.

Her first success in the road race it had at Ribble Valley 10K, which they won six times in a row from 2004 to 2009. In 2007, she finished second at the Great Ireland Run. In 2008 she won the Leeds Abbey Dash and 2009 the Lucerne City Run. In 2011 she won the Great Manchester Run and finished fifth at the Great South Run.

2001, 2005 and 2006, she was British champion in the 1500 meters and 2007 to 2009 in the 3000 -meter steeplechase. In the hall she took the national title in 2008 and 2011 over 3000 and 2010 over 1500 meters. 1999, 2001 and 2002, she was British champion in cross-country running on the short haul.

Helen Clitheroe is coached by John Nuttall and starts for Preston Harriers. In December 2002, she married the teacher Neil Clitheroe.
