Helen Dunmore

Helen Dunmore ( born 1952 in Beverley, Yorkshire ) is a British writer.

Dunmore writes both poems and novels for a wide audience. She comes from a large family and focuses in her novels over and over again with the psychology of interpersonal relationships, especially in crisis situations. Helen Dunmore studied English at the University of York and taught for two years in Finland before she published her first novel. In addition to her literary career she continued teaching and writing comments and reviews for the Times and the Observer. She participates in programs about art in the BBC radio program and was also on the jury for the TS Eliot Prize and the Whitbread Book of the Year Award. Helen Dunmore is a member of the Royal Society of Literature. In addition to poetry and novels, she has also published several children's books.
