Helen Hellwig

Helen Rebecca Hellwig (* March 1874 in Brooklyn, † November 26, 1960 ) was an American tennis player.

In 1894, Hellwig won the American Tennis Championships (now the U.S. Open ) against last year's winner Aline Terry in five sets 7:5, 3:6, 6:0, 3:6 and 6:3. In doubles, she succeeded with her ​​compatriot Juliette Atkinson a victory in three sets 6:4, 8:6 and 6:2 against Arny Williams and Annabella Wistar. In 1985, she lost the final in singles against her doubles partner Juliette Atkinson in three sets 4:6, 2:6 and 1:6. The doubles competition she won with Atkinson to Elizabeth Moore and Arny Williams in three sets 6:2, 6:2 and 12:10 again this year.
