Helen Shaver

Helen Shaver ( born February 24, 1951 in St. Thomas, Ontario ) is a Canadian actress and director.

Life and career

Before Helen Shaver discovered her talent for acting, she financed her studies as a model. Among her better known films Sam Peckinpah's The Osterman Weekend (1983, as the wife of Dennis Hopper), the drama Desert Hearts (1985 ) and the action film The Lord of Central Park (1986, with Tommy Lee Jones as desperate Vietnam veterans ).

A wide audience, it was also through her numerous series roles, including known The Legacy - as a psychologist Rachel Corrigan in the horror series Poltergeist. 1989 and 2001 she was nominated for Gemini Awards. In 2001 she won Best Supporting Actress Genie Award for We All Fall Down. In recent years, she worked as an actress in several episodes of the series 4400 - The returnees and The L Word - If women love women to see.

Since 1997, Helen Shaver who also directed numerous television productions. For their first full-length television film, The End of Summer ( Summer's End ), she won the Saturn Award for Best Director.
