Helena Flam

Helena Flam ( born 2 May 1951) is a Swedish sociologist and professor at the University of Leipzig.

Life

Flam emigrated in 1969 from Poland to Sweden. After the first degree in sociology at the University of Lund in 1975, Flam was founded in 1982 at Columbia University for Ph.D. doctorate. This was followed by research at Uppsala University and at the Max Planck Institute for the Study of Societies in Cologne and an assistant professor at the University of Konstanz. Since 1993, Helena Flam teaches sociology at the University of Leipzig.

Her research interests include: sociology of emotions, political sociology, sociology of social movements, historical sociology and economic sociology.

Besides the two most significant sociological actor- theoretical models of action homo economicus and homo sociologicus Helena Flam has the model of the Emotional Man worked as another model of action.
