Helene Liebmann

Helene Liebmann, born giant, later Liebert ( born December 16, 1795 in Berlin, † after 1859 ), was a German pianist, composer and singer.

Life

Helene Riese was born in 1795 in Berlin as the second child of a wealthy Jewish middle-class family. Her father, Meyer Wulff Riess ( later name Martin Riese ) was a wealthy banker. Her brother was the writer Friedrich Wilhelm Riese. Among the teachers of their time in Berlin included Wilhelm Schneider, Franz Lauska and Joseph Augustin Gürrlich.

1813 converted to Christianity and married the musician the merchant John Joseph Liebmann. In April 1814 the young couple moved to London, where the musician took lessons with Ferdinand Ries.
