Helenius Acron

Helenius Acro (n. well before the 3rd century BC) was a Roman grammarian and commentator of antiquity.

Life

Acro probably lived at the time of Marcus Aurelius, but certainly before the Horazerklärer Pomponius Porphyrio, and was the author of commentaries on Horace's poetry as well as plays by Terence. Certainly he has worked on Terence's Adelphoe, probably via the Eunuchus. It is doubtful whether he has also written a review of Persius.

Acros works were only indirectly Narrated by Charisius, which in turn refers back to Julius Romanus.

Previously, Helenius Acro various scholia Horace attributed (Pseudo- Acro ), but is only found in younger manuscripts from the 15th century his name. However, parts of these scholia can actually go back to Acro.
