Helgo Zettervall

Heligoland Nicholas Zettervall ( born November 21, 1831 in Lidköping, † March 17, 1907 ) was a Swedish architect.

After studying at the Art Academy in Stockholm with Professor Fredrik Wilhelm Scholander 1853 to 1860 he was Domarchitekt 1860 in Lund. For 20 years he directed the renovation and alteration of the cathedral at Lund. The then sensational, historicist reconstruction led to further large orders, such as the renovation or rebuilding of the cathedral of Linköping ( 1877-1886 ), Skara ( 1886-1894 ) and Uppsala ( 1885-1893 ) and the castle Kalmar ( 1886 to 1890). But Zettervall also designed his own building, such as the Department of Surgery ( Gamla kirurgen ), the university building and the Church of All Saints in Lund as well as the high school Norra Latin in Stockholm. 1868 Zettervall took part in the competitions listed in the previous year competition for the cathedral building in Berlin. His design was never realized.

1871 Zettervall member of the Kungliga Konsthögskolan Stockholm, then taught at 1881-1882. From 1882 to 1897 he was Director of the Department of Public Works ( Överintendentsämbetet ).

Zetterwahl 1884 Member of the Royal Swedish Gelehrsamkeits, history and antiques Academy and in 1897 the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences.
