Heliswiss

Heliswiss ( officially: Heliswiss, Swiss Helicopter AG ) was a Swiss helicopter operator based at Bern -Belp airport in the town of Belp. In 2012, the total capital was transferred to the Swiss Helicopter AG, with headquarters in Chur.

History

Heliswiss, the oldest operators of helicopters in Switzerland, was founded on 17 April 1953. This was the beginning of the helicopter flying in Switzerland. In the following years a nationwide network with various helicopter bases has been established over the whole of Switzerland Belp BE, Samedan GR, Domat / Ems GR, Locarno TI, Erstfeld UR, VS Gampel, Gstaad and Gruyères BE.

Until the Swiss Air Rescue ( REGA today ) had built their own helicopter network, many rescue missions were flown on their behalf by the Heliswiss. Even abroad, for example in Greenland, Suriname, South Africa and in the jungles of South America flew the Heliswiss their bets.

The first helicopter Heliswiss was a Bell 47 G -1. On September 23, 1953 registered as HB- XAG in the aircraft register, he took on 9 October 1953, air operations. From 1963, in addition to the small helicopters previously used also large helicopter Agusta Bell 204B were used with an engine power of 1050 hp and a payload of up to 1500 kg. In 1979, the first Bell 214 tonnes with a payload capacity of up to 2.8. As of 1991, the Russian Kamov KA- 32A12 was used.

In July 2012, Heliswiss has partnered with Air Grisha, Bohag, Eliticino, Heli Gotthard and the Rhine to the new Swiss Helicopter Heli AG.
