Helix (roller coaster)

Helix is a steel roller coaster with launching the manufacturer Mack Rides, whose opening is scheduled for spring 2014 in the Swedish amusement park Liseberg. With a length of the track is 1380 meters, Helix will be the longest roller coaster with inversions ( rollovers ) in Europe. Internationally, it is hereby second. Only the looping roller coaster California Screamin ' has an even longer track with 1850.7 meters.

Notice

The Liseberg has announced in its notice that the roller coaster helix should have a long driveway and a higher speed than the existing roller coasters in the park. Moreover, it was 200 million Swedish crowns ( 23 million euros ), the largest investment that has ever invested in a new attraction in the park.

In April 2013, the park and the manufacturer Mack Rides published the design of the trains.

Driving System

When driving system, it should be the same type of infrastructure and trains, as the Blue Fire Mega Coaster at Europa-Park Rust. The route was designed individually for the Liseberg and the coaster is - as the Lisebergbanan - lead over the mountain, which is located at the western part of the park. The 3D cinema Maxxima is closed for new roller coaster forever, because that is where the station building to be located.

Ride

During the nearly two -minute-long ride the trains pass through on the 1380 -meter-long and 52 -meter line seven inversions, four airtime hill, many runs (slope ), twists and turns. As a technical feature the roller coaster has two linear synchronous motors ( LSM), and is thus the second (*) roller coaster with multiple firings (Multi- Launch Coaster ) in Europe. In the linear synchronous motors, the trains will be accelerated with an acceleration force of 4.3 G at a maximum speed of 100 km / hr. Unlike most roller coasters located at the beginning of the track no lift or launch, but the trains roll right out of standing on the summit station, in a corkscrew into it. The two linear synchronous motors are within the travel path and have the function to speed up the trains in transit. This principle is also used in the roller coaster Cheetah Hunt at Busch Gardens Tampa (Tampa, Florida, USA) applied twice.

  • The Launch Coaster Juvelen ( settled approx Land), which was opened on April 5, 2013, instead of linear synchronous motors ( LSM) in two places more friction wheels to speed up the trains.
