Hellmut Federhofer

Hellmut spring Hofer ( born August 6, 1911 in Graz) is a musicologist and was director of the Library of the Technical University of Graz.

Life

Spring Hofer studied Musicology in Graz and Vienna, and in 1936 received his doctorate. The following year he was a librarian at the Library of the Institute of Technology ( BTH ) Graz and later at the University Library of Graz. 1940 He took over the management of the BTH Graz. 1944 spring Hofer was habilitated. In 1959 he was a professor of musicology. 1962 until his retirement in 1979, he headed the musicological institute of the University of Mainz. 2005 he was awarded the Golden Medal of the Province of Styria.

He is married to the musicologist Renate Hofer - spring king and lives in Mainz.
