Hellmut Geissner

Karl Hellmut Geissner (actually Geißner; born March 7, 1926 in Darmstadt; † 19 August 2012) was a German rhetoric and speech scientist.

Life

Geissner began its activities at the Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main, then taught at the University of Saarland in Saarbrücken. Most recently, he was a full professor of speech science at the University of Koblenz- Landau, Landau in der Pfalz at the site, as Professor of Speech Science.

After his retirement, he held still teaching at the Universities of Zurich and Vienna. Today Geissner is ranked among the three most important representatives of the speech science because he has shaped this science fundamentally.

Geissner came forward with numerous publications on Speech Science and elocution and rhetoric. He also developed the "five set theory" of the argument, and the situation model of communication.

He was for many years seminar leader and trainer for large corporations and media companies and is co-founder of the Scientific Advisory Board of the " German Society for Speech Science and Speech Training " ( DGSS ). He is also the founder of the IRM (Institute of rhetoric ) to deEAO ( European Academy Otzenhausen ) and founder ( in 1968 together with Prof. Fred L. Casmir, NCA, USA ) The ICC (International Colloquium for communication).

Geissner is the author of a "History of elocution ."

On Geiss former teaching of rhetorical communication ( standard work " rhetoric and political education ", 1973; 3rd edition 1986) based the 13 - part TV series, " Speeches and let's talk " ( SWF / ORF), which in the Adolf Grimme Prize silver has been excellent.
