Band History

Already in the late 1960s (vocals, guitar), Keith Marshall ( guitar), Jeffrey Allen ( drums) and Vic Faulkner (bass ) played the teenage Bob Bradbury together under the band name The Age. In 1971, she met David Blaylock, former road manager of the zombies, who was traveling as a talent scout for music publisher Chappell Music. He took over the management of the band and they renamed themselves in Hello.

At a gig in Rolling Mills Club in Edmonton, London has been a songwriter and guitarist Russ Ballard, then a member of the band Argent, attentive to the young musician. Soon after, began first recording sessions in which the band initially only compositions by Ballard grossed, who also took over the production. The first song, Can not Let You Go, was not published by Hello, but gave the crooner Barry Ryan in early 1972 a small and last hit in the UK. The first released on Bell Records Hello- single was early 1972 You Move Me, but also as the successor title C'mon flopped.

After the first commercial failures David Blaylock began to look for other songs. 1973 offered the songwriters Nicky Chinn and Mike team Chapman, which recorded several hits with The Sweet and New World at the time already, Hello to the Song Dyna -Mite. The production was Mike Leander, who also already for Gary Glitter and The Glitter Band later worked for Bell Records. However, he drew the publication of the recording in favor of the self-penned title of Hello Another School Day back. While the success of the latter failed to turn up Dyna -Mite developed in late 1973 to the first major hit for the glam rock band Mud.

It was not until the end of 1974 Hello launched a renewed attempt to land a hit single. This time the choice to Tell Him, a 1960s - title of the Exciters, the recently even the Glitter Band fell on her album Hey in a glam rock version had recorded. The most successful song by Hello is the Russ Ballard - composition New York Groove, with which they had a top ten hit in the UK, Germany and other European countries in the autumn of 1975.

Especially many fans had Hello in Germany, where the group was able to place in the charts with a total of nine singles, including with Star Studded Sham - also written by Russ Ballard - and Love Stealer written by Richard Myhill and Phil Wainman, the producer of all hit singles by the Sweet, who was also a producer of Hello now.
