Helme Heine

Helme Heine ( born April 4, 1941 in Berlin ) is a German writer, children's book author, illustrator and designer. He is the brother of Ernst Wilhelm Heine. He lives in New Zealand since 1990, writes hearing and screenplays and creates satirical graphics and sculptures.

Life

Helmets ( Helmut ) Heine was born in Berlin in 1941, his parents were restaurateurs and hoteliers. He spent his youth in Luebbecke and from 1953 in Wülfrath, where he attended the Theodor-Heuss -Realschule until completion in 1958. Even as a schoolboy awarded him a playful non-conformist and versatile artistic talent.

The mid-1960s he moved to South Africa. He remained there for over a decade, founded in Johannesburg in the political- literary cabaret sauerkraut, published a satirical magazine, played theater, painting and drawing. However, the commercial success eluded him in all his undertakings and commitments. That changed abruptly when he began to write children's books and in 1975 his first book " The elephant basics " was born. In the same year he established at the Frankfurt Book Fair contacts with the publisher Gertraud Middelhauve and Neugebauer Verlag, the " The elephant basics " or his second book, "King of Hupf I. " 1976 brought into the trade. Both books were successful.

In 1977 he returned with his family returned to Germany and published a variety of children 's books that appeared predominantly in Middelhauve. His books have been and are now published in 30 countries worldwide. The world circulation is 25 million books.

In the late 1980s Heine went to Ireland and finally to New Zealand, where he and his wife, Gisela of Radowitz, now lives in Russell in the Bay of Islands and works. There, writes, draws and paints, he creates sculptures, designs furniture, theater costumes, porcelain and more. In his spare time sailing and angling it.

In the 1990s, Helme Heine also worked together and lyricist Gregor Rottschalk, inventors of the figure of the little green dragon Tabaluga with musician Peter Maffay. He gave this fantasy creature is a pictorial form, wrote a fitting Tabaluga history and influenced the story for the musical " Tabaluga and Lilli", which was premiered in the former TheatrO Centro, the metronome today theater of the Centro Oberhausen 1999.
