Helmsley Building

The Helmsley Building is a New York skyscraper as 1928 / 29th

Originally called the Helmsley Building New York Central Building, and served the New York Central Railroad Company as a headquarters. A first renaming, in New York General Building, was held with the sale of the building to the General Tire and Rubber Company. Its present name was then given the skyscraper with the resale of Harry Helmsley (1909-1997), during his lifetime one of the biggest real estate tycoons of the United States.

The traffic of Park Avenue flows through two oversized archways in the base of the Helmsley Building. After completion of the MetLife Building, it was clearly dominated by him. However, due to the situation that the Park Avenue straight feeds on the Helmsley Building, the building still serves as a point of this busy street.
