Helmut Bieler

Helmut Bieler ( born June 7, 1940 in Gersfeld ( Rhön) ) is a German composer, pianist and professor of music didactics at the University of Bayreuth.

Life

Helmut Bieler grew up in Hofgeismar. After graduation in Bayreuth, he studied at the Munich Academy of Music composition (with Franz Xaver Lehner ( 1904-1986 ) and Fritz Schieri ), piano (with Friedrich Wuhrer and Aldo Schön) and music education. 1967-1979 he taught at the Arts High School in Bayreuth, then until 1994 as a professor of music didactics at the University of Bayreuth. In 1980 he founded the Ensemble Musica Viva Bayreuth, 1988, the time series of concerts of new music in Bayreuth, which he now heads together with Wolfram Graf.
