Helmut Brandt

Helmut Brandt ( born October 24, 1950 in Bardenberg ) is a German politician ( CDU) and General Counsel of the CDU / CSU parliamentary group.

Life and career

After graduating from high school in Herzogenrath Brandt did his military service and then graduated in law at the University of Bonn, which he finished with the first legal state exam. He was born in Bonn member of K.D.St.V. Novesia Bonn in CV. After the clerkship, he was also the second state exam and has since worked as a lawyer in Alsdorf. Brandt is a specialist in criminal law.

Helmut Brandt is married and has two children.

Party

Brandt joined the CDU in 1969 and is deputy chairman of the CDU district association Aachen.

Member of Parliament

Helmut Brandt belonged from 1978 to 1994 the city council Alsdorf, where he also served as chairman of the CDU until 1994. Since 1999 he is also a member of the county council of the district of Aachen.

On 28 June 2005 Brandt moved for the retired deputies Karl -Josef Laumann in the Bundestag after and has since been a member of the German Bundestag. He is a member of the Bundestag's Interior Committee in the 17th electoral term.

Helmut Brandt is collected according to the 2005 federal election on the state list of North Rhine-Westphalia in the Bundestag. In the 2009 federal election he won with 40.2 percent of the primary vote in the direct mandate constituency 89 district of Aachen.
