Helmut Schulte

Helmut Schulte ( born September 14, 1957 in Kirchveischede, Kreis Olpe ) is a German football coach and sports manager.

Player

During his active career as a player Helmut Schulte was only slightly successful. He played for the SC Fortuna Köln and FC St. Pauli.

Coaches and managers

The entrance to the coach business was in a very unusual way through a job creation scheme he came in 1984 as a youth coach for FC St. Pauli. Later he was assistant coach of the first team and after the departure of Willi Reimann to local rivals Hamburger SV Schulte was head coach of the neighborhood clubs. That same season he made with St.Pauli promotion to the Premier League before he was released in February 1991. For the 1991/92 season, he took over as coach at Bundesliga newcomer Dynamo Dresden. Although he managed to avoid relegation, Schulte resigned after just one season back because of the unprofessional environment in Dresden. He then worked for a short time as a co- commentator for Sat.1 before he got an offer from FC Schalke 04 as the successor to Udo Lattek in January 1993. According to a tenth place in the 1992/93 season and a miserable start to the 93/94 season Schulte was released on Schalke.

In the aftermath Helmut Schulte worked as a manager at VfB Lübeck and FC St. Pauli and was from 1998 until end of February 2008 sports director at youth level of FC Schalke 04 on March 1, 2008, he came for the third time to FC St. Pauli; Here he worked as sporting director. His current contract until February 2013, however, was dissolved by mutual agreement in May 2012. About his time at St. Paul Schulte wrote a book that was published in February 2013.

On December 19, 2012 the SK Rapid Wien was the obligation of Schulte known as the new sporting director as of 1 January 2013. Fortuna Dusseldorf announced on November 10, 2013 on demand announced that Helmut Schulte will take over the post of Sports Management Board as of 1 January 2014. Previously, this Rapid Wien had confirmed on their own website. He is, together with Werner Wolf 2014 step by step be introduced into the office until March 31, and shall be responsible from office admission for senior management succession planning. He will replace Werner Wolf and initially has a contract until 2016.

Remarkable

On 18 January 2007 Schulte was seriously injured in food during the hurricane Kyrill by a subversive book. He suffered a fracture of the second cervical vertebra. The then 49 -year-old Schulte hovered there for a time in danger.
