Help America Vote Act

The Help America Vote Act ( HAVA, Pub.L. 107-252 ) is a United States federal law that was adopted on 29 October 2002.

The HAVA was designed according to the counting problems in the 2000 presidential election. Critics note that the HAVA the use of voting machines promotes, although this had caused some of the problems in the previous election.

Due to the HAVA an electoral register was introduced at the federal level. The HAVA has also introduced the right to issue a provisional vote if a voter is not included in the official register of voters. This voice is only valid after the voter has proved the legality.
