Help the Aged

Help the Aged ( "Help the old man ") is a charitable organization founded in 1961 in the United Kingdom, which has set itself to improve the living conditions of the elderly to the destination.

Objectives and means

In 2005, Help the Aged took approximately 73.9 million pounds sterling, of which £ 33 million from donations and bequests. £ 29.4 million relates to the proceeds of sale of the approximately 370 stores, the Help the Aged in Great Britain and Northern Ireland operates and in which the organization incurred donations, so mainly used textiles and consumer goods are marketed.

The money is mainly used in the practical care for the elderly, but the organization also in developing countries present. They support more than 26,000 seniors, especially in South Asia, Africa and Central America in the Sponsorship Program Sponsor a Grandparent (formerly Adopt a Granny ). Furthermore, Help the Aged provides through subsidiaries in various financial and insurance services for seniors.

At the same time Help the Aged is understood as a political interest group of the British seniors and works by actively lobbying in the political institutions of Britain against age discrimination in the legislation.
