Helsinki-86
Helsinki -86 was formed in July 1986 in Liepāja Latvia's human rights group.
Its founders included Linards Grantins, Raimonds Bitenieks and Mārtiņš Bariss.
On 14 June 1987, the group organized a party where flowers were laid at the Freedom Monument in Riga. This event demonstrated the rebirth of the Latvian national pride and self-confidence.
On August 23, 1987 Helsinki -86 organized a protest demonstration against the German - Soviet Non-Aggression Pact, which preceded the Soviet occupation of Latvia.
On November 18 1987 she celebrated for the first time since 1940, the anniversary of Latvia's independence in 1918.
As a political party Helsinki -86 took part in the unsuccessful parliamentary elections to the Saeima of 1998.
2003 changed Helsinki -86 to form a new nationalist party, the Nacionālā spēkā Savieniba (NSS ).
