History
Helvesiek 1614-1669 was affected by witch hunts: two women got into witch trials.

Business
In Helvesiek edible mushroom cultivation has been operated since 1996. The residents here fungal garden GmbH is the largest in Germany Edelpilz producer.
Public institutions
In the district Rehr the district of Rotenburg (Wümme ) operates a waste disposal plant since 1978. End of 2013, this will be closed. There are also in Helvesiek a volunteer fire department.
Education
In Helvesiek there is a kindergarten. Students go to educational institutions in neighboring communities.
Traffic
In the municipality there are no major traffic routes. It is crossed by the county road 226 and highway 130 and, with the onset of here K 212 a shuttle to the main road 75 in the neighboring municipality Lauenbrück.
