Hemnes

Hemnes is a Norwegian municipality with 4583 inhabitants ( as of March 31, 2013). The municipality is 1594 km ² and is bordered on the east by Sweden.

The administrative center of the municipality is the place Korgen. Other towns are Finneidfjord, Bjerka and Bleikvasslia.

Economically, the community is dominated by electricity production, agriculture, forestry and the manufacture of boats. There is in the municipality of several power plants that generate electricity. The electricity is mainly used for smelting plants in Mosjøen and Mo i Rana and exported in part to Sweden.

The highest mountain in northern Norway, the 1916 m high Okssolten is located in the municipality. The massif is the glacier Okstindbreen.
