Hemothorax

Under hemothorax, also called hemothorax, refers to a collection of blood in the pleural space. It is a form of pleural effusion.

A hemothorax is produced by a direct injury ( eg by Chines ) of the heart or lungs. There will be a collection of blood in the chest and thus difficulty in breathing and shock.

Other causes may be postoperative rebleeding, such as lung biopsy, thoracentesis or central venous catheter- conditioning.
