Name

The name Hemsbach consists of the Middle High German words hagen (later grove ), the " small wood " means and bach. The explanation arises from the fact " stream that flows through a grove of trees ." The Hemsbach Hemsbach gave the place its name. The same name origin also have the nearby towns Heimbach and Heimbuchenthal.

The Hemsbach originates in a small valley south-east of the town Großhemsbach, who belongs to the market Moembris. The Hemsbach through the village to the northeast, and is reinforced by three other streams. Of the former arises from a granite quarry in the Hohe Mark, its still slightly reddish water flowing into the Hemsbach Wendelinus stone. Another stream runs down the valley from Kleinhemsbach. In bridges of Hemsbach is completely piped and opens at the former fire station on the route Kahlgrundbahn in the Kahl.
