Name

The name Hemsbach consists of the Middle High German words hagen (later grove ), the " small wood " means and bach. The explanation arises from the fact " stream that flows through a grove of trees ." The Hemsbach Hemsbach gave the place its name. The same name origin also have the nearby towns Heimbach and Heimbuchenthal.

The Hemsbach originates in a small valley south-east of the town Großhemsbach, who belongs to the market Moembris.
