Hemstedt is a town and a district of the Hanseatic City Guard Insert in the Altmark Salzwedel in Saxony- Anhalt.

Geography

Hemstedt is located about five kilometers northeast of the town of Gardelegen along Route 27

Structure

For the former municipality belonged to the district Lüffingen. This is part of the now existing village.

History

In 1910 lived 300 inhabitants in Hemstedt. The community Hemstedt belonged to the administrative community Gardelegen city.

Due to a change in the contract area, the municipal council of the municipality Hemstedt decided on 13 November 2008 that the church Hemstedt is incorporated in the Hanseatic city Gardelegen. This agreement was approved by the county as a lower municipal supervisory authority and entered into force on 1 July 2009.

After incorporation of the previously autonomous municipality Hemstedt were Hemstedt and Lüffingen districts of the Hanseatic city Gardelegen. The municipality is my finished Hemstedt and future districts Hemstedt and Lüffingen were the village of receiving Hanseatic City Guard Set. In the eingemeindeten community and nunmehrigen village Hemstedt a Ortschaftsrat was formed with eight members, including mayor.
