Henflingen

Henflingen is a commune with 201 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Haut-Rhin in the Alsace region. It belongs to the Local Government Association, Canton de Hirsingue.

Geography

Henflingen lies in the east of France at the top Ill Sundgau, 117 kilometers southwest of Strasbourg, the capital of the Alsace region, about 24 kilometers west of the Swiss city of Basel and about 8 kilometers south-east of Altkirch, headquarters of the sub-prefecture of the arrondissement, on a average height of 344 meters above sea level. Neighboring communities of Henflingen are Bettendorf in the west and north, the northeast and Willer Grentzingen in the south. The municipality has an area of 2.65 square kilometers.

Henflingen is a climate of type Cfb ( according to Köppen and Geiger ) assigned: Warm Temperate rain climate ( C ), fully wet ( f), the warmest month below 22 ° C, at least four months above 10 ° C ( b). There is a maritime climate with moderate summer.

History

In 1965, during archaeological excavations found the bronze hand of a statue from Gallo-Roman times.

The priory of Saint- Morand in Altkirch possessed in the Middle Ages Dinghof in Henflingen. However, the town itself belonged to Seigneurie Altkirch, in turn, to 1648 belonged to the Holy Roman Empire under the leadership of the Habsburgs, and finally the kings of France to the county Pfirt until 1324. There used to be a leper colony in Henflingen.

The coat of arms of the municipality is in red with a silver left introverted Linnet. The metallic silver color is white in heraldry. It is a canting arms.

Culture and sights

Henflingen nationally represented with a flower in the Conseil des villes et villages fleuris ( National Council of flowery towns and villages ). The " flowers " are awarded as part of a regional competition, a maximum of three flowers can be achieved.

The former Mairie ( mayor ) - and school buildings of Henflingen was built in 1845. On the main street of the community is a Flurkreuz from 1728, with a bas-relief representing the St. Martin of Tours on a horse. It is privately owned.

Economy

The main economic activities in Henflingen are farming, feed production and breeding of domestic bovines, pigs and mushrooms. There are grown especially cereals and fodder beet.
