The Hengstener Bachtal

The Hengstener Bach is a 2.893 km long stream and a tributary of the river Wupper, which has its source in Wuppertal- Spieckern. It flows in the Wuppertal city district Langer field Beyenburg.

Etymology

The etymological origin according to the old place name stallions comes from " Henstwerdt " ( 1547), it is a connection to see a stallion.

Topography

The creek rises to around 314 meters sea level in the hamlet Spieckern. After about 40 meters, the stream is piped over a distance of about 120 meters out from the village to the north. From here, the creek runs along fields.

Along the foot of a wooded hill on the right leads to the creek past the hamlet of Lower Rather. Around 2050 meters for the source of Hengstener stream is directed to the east and extends between Gangolf mountain and Seal mountain. The deeply incised stream valley is forested.
