Henning Grenander

Henning Grenander (* 1874, † 1958) was a Swedish figure skater, who started in a single run. He is the world champion of 1898.

He made his first appearance at an international championship in 1893 into the limelight when he Eduard Engelmann second at the European Championships in Berlin was behind the Austrian. This competition was the first major judges scandal in history and has been canceled since there were disputes about the ratings and therefore the result was initially interpreted as "undecided ". Only months after the competition, the winners were announced after many protests and negotiations by the German and Austrian Skating Union, a one-time in the history of skating process.

At the World Championships 1898 in London Grenander won his only major title. He was world champion as the first Swede and thus established a long and successful tradition of Swedish figure skater, which lasted until the Second World War. In his victory Grenander referred the favorite champions of 1897, Gustav hill, and in 1896, Gilbert Fuchs, who finished second and third respectively.
