Henri de Laulanie

Henri de Laulanie, Henri de Laulanie de Saint Croix, ( born February 22, 1920 in Poitou, France, † June 23, 1995 in Madagascar ) was a French Jesuit and agricultural engineer, the system of Rice Intensification ( Eng.: system of rice intensification ) developed.

Life

In 1961 the Jesuit to Madagascar. There he founded in the 1980s, an agricultural school for the rural poor and in 1990 the NGO " Association Tefy Saina " that teaches and develops the system of Rice Intensification.

On June 23, 1995, he died in his tribe Monastery on Madagascar.

SRI - System of Rice Intensification

SRI means as much as the system of rice intensification. This system serves to increase rice production by the growth and strengthening of each Reisplanze is consistently supported. Agriculture in Madagascar is highly dependent on rice, so large rice production are important. Meanwhile, SRI is also used in other countries, eg in Bihar (India).
