Henri Rabaud

Henri Rabaud ( born November 10, 1873 in Paris, † September 11, 1949 ) was a French composer and conductor.

The son of the cellist Hippolyte Rabaud (1839-1900) and grandson of the flautist Louis Dorus (1812-1896) was at the Paris Conservatory student of Jules Massenet and André Gedalge. From 1908 to 1918 he was conductor of the Opéra. In 1919, he led the Symphony Orchestra in Boston and was then director of the Conservatory until 1940.

Rabaud composed five operas, two symphonies, a symphonic poem, an oratorio and a setting of the fourth Psalm. In addition, he also wrote music for the stage and was one of the first composers who worked for the film.
