Henricus Hondius II

Henricus Hondius II, Hendrik Hondius the Younger ( Amsterdam * 1597, † August 16, 1651 ) was a Dutch engraver, cartographer and publisher.

Life

Hondius was the son of the famous cartographer Jodocus Hondius, who had founded in Amsterdam in a cartographic company. After Hendrik had initially worked in the family business, he founded in 1621 in his hometown of its own publishing house. In 1641 he published a new edition of the Mercator - Hondius Atlas with altered Hondius cards.
