Henrik Anker Bjerregaard

Henrik Bjerregaard anchor, ( born January 1, 1792 in Ringsaker, † April 7, 1842 in Christiania ) was a Norwegian poet and lawyer.

His parents were the regimental quartermaster and later District Judge ( Sorenskriver ) Mads Bjerregaard ( 1761-1831 ) and his wife Alethe Ørtlein ( 1756-1846 ). His father was born in Denmark. He married in 1831 the actress Henriette Hansen (14 May 1814-20. November 1892 ), daughter of the petty trader Christopher Hansen and his wife Gunhild Jensdatter.

Bjerregaard came in 1800 after initially Lom, where his father had become Sorenskriver in North Gudbrandsdal. Three years later he came to the cathedral school in Christiania. There he was soon the best student. He passed the exam of Arts in Copenhagen and should study law. Instead, he was concerned with aesthetics and wrote poems. 1811 brought him back to the father, and set him at his office. So he should prepare in practice on his exam. In 1812 he was back in Copenhagen, politically active, be patriotic circles joined and joined the " Northern Mans forening ". In June 1814 went in an open boat in the direction of Norway, but has been applied by a Swedish frigate and spent two months in Gothenburg in prison. Bjerregaard and his generation regarded poetry as a contribution to nation building in Norway. It was to be a separate literature and cultural identity of the new nation. In 1820 he won the prize of 100 Speciestaler for the creation of a national anthem, which the " Selskabet for Norges Vel " ( Society of Norway's welfare ) and the businessman Marcus Ploen had advertised. The 30s were marked by adversity. His marriage with the very young actress was seen by many as Mesalliance. The only daughter died soon after birth. Bjerregaard was excluded from the social life of the capital. 1839 threatened him an accusation before the Imperial court for neglect of his official business. Ludvig Kristensen Daa struck him as a deputy in the Storting before, but this candidacy was thwarted by any means. He died on April 7, 1842 of a brain disease.
