Henrik Sedin

Henrik Sedin ( born September 26, 1980 in Örnsköldsvik ) is a Swedish professional ice hockey player who currently plays for the Vancouver Canucks.

Career

Henrik Sedin played in his youth in the youth team MoDo Hockey in the Swedish junior league. After good performances he was taken into the first team in 1997 and played from then on in the Elitserien. He was honored along with his twin brother Daniel as the best Swedish player of the year with the Guldpucken early as 1999.

In the same years, the Vancouver Canucks selected him in the NHL Entry Draft in 1999 in the first round in third place out. After another year in Sweden, he moved in 2000 with his brother in the NHL to Vancouver. Simultaneously, the first two seasons, he played through completely and from year to year, he scored more points.

As the NHL season 2004/ 05 failed because of the lockout, he went back to MoDo Hockey, where he played the season along with brother Daniel, teammate Markus Naslund in Vancouver, as well as NHL superstar Peter Forsberg.

The 2005/06 season was held back by the end of the lockout. Henrik Sedin was formed in the season with Anson Carter and his brother Daniel Sedin, the so-called " Brother Line". They were the most successful series of the Canucks this season. Henrik Sedin scored 75 points in 82 games. In the following three seasons, he has kept his scoring constant at around 80 points.

In the 2009/10 season he managed for the first time more than 100 points. He scored 29 goals, had 83 assists and collected 112 points. At season's end, he was honored as the top scoring player in the NHL with the Art Ross Trophy and was awarded other individual awards with the Hart Memorial Trophy and the election to the NHL First All -Star Team. For the 2010/11 season he became the 13th captain in the history of the Vancouver Canucks.

In February 2006, he was part of the Swedish national team that won the gold medal at the Olympic Winter Games. Also at the 2010 Winter Olympics, he participated with the Swedish national ice hockey team. At the World Championships in 2013 in Stockholm and Helsinki Sedin was again included in the Tre Kronors squad and won the gold medal with this.

Others

Henrik and Daniel Sedin were both selected by the Vancouver Canucks in the first round of the NHL Entry Draft in 1999. Daniel was drafted second, Henrik in third place.
