Henry Adefope

Henry Edmund Olufemi Adefope ( born March 15, 1926 in Kaduna, † March 11, 2012 in Lagos) was a Nigerian politician and member of the IOC.

Life

A graduate of Glasgow University (1947-1952) began his career at Adefope the Nigerian Army, where he worked as a physician from 1953 to 1963 with the rank of brigadier general. He was Nigeria's Minister of Labour from 1975 to 1978 and Minister of Foreign Affairs 1978 until 1979. He himself played soccer, tennis and cricket.

Adefope from 1985 to 2006 Member of the IOC, then honorary member. He was especially active in the promotion of African and junior sport in his native Nigeria, where he was from 1967 to 1976 Member of the National Olympic Committee. In 1973, he headed the organizing committee of the All- Africa Games in Lagos and he was Vice- President of the Commonwealth Games Federation of Industrial Property 1974 until 1982.
