Henry Beckman

Henry Beckman (* November 26, 1921 in Halifax, Nova Scotia, † June 17, 2008 in Barcelona, Spain) was a Canadian actor.

Life

Beckman appeared before his 18th birthday, the Canadian army at, served between 1939 and 1945 during World War II and participated in the invasion of Normandy. He began his acting career in 1950 in the Broadway show The Golden State. In 1951, he stood in Darkness at Noon with Claude Rains and Jack Palance on stage. He entered also in several television series on, but initially only in small supporting roles. His first recurring role in a series in 1955 as Commander Paul Richards in Flash Gordon. In the same year he married the theater producer Cheryl Maxwell. Both then operated for two years together, The Dukes Oak Theatre in New York.

In the 1960s, Beckman had minor roles in feature films such as Blake Edwards ' Breakfast at Tiffany's, Alfred Hitchcock's Marnie and Billy Wilder's Kiss Me, Stupid. He also had recurring roles in the series Peyton Place and Here Come the Brides in 1975 as well as Harry Mark in Bronk. In 1979 he published the book How to Sell Your Film Project, a guide for the production of an independent film. He stepped up to the end of his acting career in 2002 in guest roles in various series of Bonanza to The X-Files.

1975 and 1978 he won the award for Best Supporting Actor at the Canadian Film Awards, he also was nominated for the 1988 Gemini Award.
