Henry Becque

Henry Becque, actually Henri -François Becque ( born April 28, 1837 in Paris, † April 12, 1899 ) was a French dramatist.

Life

Only after a few years in other professions - an employee of the Compagnie des chemins de fer du Nord, office manager of an estate agent and also in the office of the Legion of Honor - Becque came to the theater.

In 1867 he made ​​his debut with his opera Sardanapale. Together with the composer Victorin de Joncieres he worked congenially the same name by Lord Byron. His artistic and economic breakthrough he achieved in 1870 with his piece Michel Pauper; In 1886 he was able to successfully bring this piece in a revision again on the stage.
