Henry Busse

Henry Busse Sr. ( born May 19, 1894 in Magdeburg, † April 23, 1955 in Memphis ( Tennessee)) was an American jazz trumpeter and composer.

Life and work

Henry buses grew up on a farm outside of Magdeburg; In 1916 he emigrated to the United States and came to Hollywood, where he first played as a trumpet player in a movie theater band. In 1917 he was one of the Frisco " Jass " to tape; In 1918 he was one of the founding members of the Paul Whiteman Orchestra. Buses was also involved in various compositions of the band, as in the early Hiterfolgen " Hot Lips " and " Wang Wang Blues".

Buses served as concertmaster of the orchestra, as the Whiteman band toured in the 19'20er years through Europe; doing so he discovered a song that the German physician Robert Katscher had composed. After his return to the United States Johnny DeSilvia wrote a new text and the title of the song was renamed " When Day is Done ". He was a big hit and made famous buses.

During his time at the Paul Whiteman Orchestra played buses also with brothers Tommy and Jimmy Dorsey, and with Ray Bolger Club Chez Paree, which was owned by Al Capone; Buses then headed the University's house band. In 1928 he began as Henry Busse and the Shuffle Rhythm Band perform:

The highlight of his success reached buses in the years 1930 to 1945, when he played dance music and swing. In contrast, discussed the Downbeat Magazine 's music as " Sweet or Mickey Mouse " style. In 1935, he participated with his band at the MGM color film Starlit Days at the Lido and Lady Let's Dance; in the latter with a voice:

Buses worked with his orchestra bids his death in 1955; Member of his orchestra was in the 50s and the saxophonist JR Monterose. Buses died in an appearance with his Shuffle Rhythm Band at a business meeting at the Peabody Hotel in Memphis (Tennessee).

Al Hirt and Herb Alpert designated bus game as an influence, especially in its version of Rhapsody in Blue.

Henry Busse was married twice.
