Henry Calvert Simons

Henry Calvert Simons ( born October 9, 1899 in Virden, Illinois, † June 19, 1946 ) was an economist at the University of Chicago, whose models influenced the Chicago school of competition law and monetarism.

Simons has also become known for its provision of economic income, which he developed in collaboration with Robert M. Haig, the so-called Haig - Simons formula. This influenced the structure of the modern state taxes U.S. sustainable.

In its publication " A positive program of laissez -faire " (A Positive Program for Laissez Faire ) Simons continued in 1934 a political program in motion, which helped to give the private business after the global economic crisis, new impulses.

Eliminate all forms of monopolistic market power, including the breaking of oligopolistic corporate structures, and apply the rules against cartels on unions. A federal law could limit the size of company, and where huge things are necessary for technical reasons because of the small -held production costs, the federal government should own and operate this ... Support the stability of the economy through a reform of the monetary system and by imposing consistent rules of monetary policy ... reforming the tax system and promote fairness and prosperity off all fees and duties by the income tax system ... work ... Limit the waste and the production of waste through restrictions on advertising and other wasteful practices of selling.

Henry Simons sat for changes in the financial architecture of the United States, which should allow for a more effective monetary policy and mitigate the periodic fluctuations between inflationary and deflationary periods. His goal was to avoid the special Extreme in industrial business cycles.
