Henry Cantwell Wallace

Henry Cantwell Wallace ( born May 11, 1866 in rock Iceland, Illinois, † October 25, 1924 in Washington, DC) was an American high school teacher, publisher, and Minister of Agriculture of the United States.

Biography

After leaving school, he studied from 1885 to 1887 at Iowa State College of Agriculture and Mechanic Arts and acquired there in 1892 with a Bachelor of Arts (BA). Later he worked as a professor of dairy science itself at Iowa State College. In addition, he was from 1916 to 1921 and publisher of Agriculture magazine Wallaces ' Farmer.

On March 5, 1921, appointed to the Cabinet Henry Cantwell Wallace of U.S. President Warren G. Harding to the Minister of Agriculture of the United States (U.S. Secretary of Agriculture ). This post he held after the death of President Harding also in the cabinet of his successor Calvin Coolidge until his own death on 25 October 1924.

His book Our Debt and Duty to the Farmers appeared posthumously in 1925.

His son Henry Agard Wallace was not only also Minister of Agriculture, but also vice-president and then Minister of Commerce of the United States.
