Henry Carl Luckey

Henry Carl Luckey ( born November 22, 1868 in East St. Louis, Illinois, † December 31, 1956 in El Cerrito, California ) was an American politician. Between 1935 and 1939 he represented the first electoral district of the state of Nebraska in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

In 1873 Henry Luckey moved with his parents in the Platte County, Nebraska. There they farmed near Columbus a farm. Henry attended the public schools of his new home, and then until 1912 the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. In the years 1914 and 1915 he studied at Columbia University in New York. In the meantime, he worked in agriculture.

Although he studied law and was admitted to the bar, Henry Luckey has never worked as a lawyer. Instead, he rose 1917-1927 in the real estate and construction business. Between 1919 and 1925 he was also curator of the Midland College in Fremont.

Henry Luckey was a member of the Democratic Party. In the congressional elections of 1934 he was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives, where he replaced John Morehead on 3 January 1935. After he was confirmed in 1936 in his office, he could remain until January 3, 1939 at the Congress. In the 1938 elections, he was not confirmed. Also unsuccessful was a renewed candidacy in 1940.

After the end of his time in Congress Luckey worked until 1946 in the real estate business and in agriculture. Then he withdrew into retirement, which he spent in Richmond, California. He died on 31 December 1956 in his new home in California.
