Henry Chesbrough

Henry Chesbrough (* in the 20th century) coined the term open innovation and is the author of the book Open Innovation: The New Imperative for Creating and Profiting from Technology (HBS Press, 2003 ). He has also written two other books on open innovation: Open Business Models: How to Thrive in the New Innovation Landscape (HBS Press, 2006 ), and Open Innovation: Researching a New Paradigm (Oxford, 2006), a compilation of academic essays.

Chesbrough is currently an associate professor and executive director of the Center for Open Innovation at the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley. Prior to his time at Haas, he taught at the Harvard Business School as a teaching assistant.

Chesbrough holds a BA in Business Administration from Yale University, an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business, and a Ph.D. from the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley.
